pada su-jatena nakharuna-sriya
bhuvam likhanty asrubhir anjanasitaih
asincati kunkuma-rusitau stanau
tasthav adho-mukhy ati-duhkha-ruddha-vak
SYNONYMS
pada -- with her foot; su-jatena -- very tender; nakha -- of its nails; aruna -- reddish; sriya -- having the effulgence; bhuvam -- the earth; likhanti -- scratching; asrubhih -- with her tears; anjana -- because of her eye shadow; asitaih -- which were black; asincati -- sprinkling; kunkuma -- with kunkuma powder; rusitau -- red; stanau -- breasts; tasthau -- she stood still; adhah -- downward; mukhi -- her face; ati -- extreme; duhkha -- due to the sorrow; ruddha -- checked; vak -- her speech.
TRANSLATION
With her tender foot, effulgent with the reddish glow of her nails, she scratched the ground, and tears darkened by her eye makeup sprinkled her kunkuma-reddened breasts. There she stood, face downward, her voice choked up by extreme sorrow.
