Bhaktivedanta VedaBase: Śrīmad Bhāgavatam 12.4.8
sāmudraḿ daihikaḿ bhaumaḿ
rasaḿ sāḿvartako raviḥ
raśmibhiḥ pibate ghoraiḥ
sarvaḿ naiva vimuñcati
sāmudram — of the ocean; daihikam — of living bodies; bhaumam — of the earth; rasam — the juice; sāḿvartakaḥ — annihilating; raviḥ — the sun; raśmibhiḥ — with its rays; pibate — drinks up; ghoraiḥ — which are terrible; sarvam — all; na — nothing; eva — even; vimuñcati — gives.
The sun in its annihilating form will drink up with its terrible rays all the water of the ocean, of living bodies and of the earth itself. But the devastating sun will not give any rain in return.
