takṣakaḥ śaraṇaḿ yayau
sarpa-satre — in the snake sacrifice; samiddha — blazing; agnau — in the fire; dahyamānān — being burned; mahā-uragān — the great serpents; dṛṣṭvā — seeing; indram — to Indra; bhaya — with fear; saḿvignaḥ — very disturbed; takṣakaḥ — Takṣaka; śaraṇam — for shelter; yayau — went.
When Takṣaka saw even the most powerful serpents being burned in the blazing fire of that snake sacrifice, he was overwhelmed with fear and approached Lord Indra for shelter.
